Ingredients

  • potato 5 pieces
  • herring fillet in oil 250 grams
  • apple 1 piece
  • chives 1 bunch
  • egg 3 pieces
  • canned peas 1 can
  • mayonnaise 2 tablespoons
  • sour cream 2 tablespoons
  • ground black pepper 1 to taste
  • salt 1 to taste

Tools

  • large-pot
  • knife
  • bowl
  • spoon

Instructions

  1. Peel the potatoes and boil them in salted water until tender.
  2. Hard-boil the eggs.
  3. Rinse the herring fillets, and if you want a milder flavor, soak them in cold water for about 30 minutes. Then cut them into small pieces.
  4. Chop the chives. Cut the cooked eggs into small pieces.
  5. Drain the cooked potatoes, let them cool, and cut them into cubes. Cut the apple into pieces.
  6. Place the potatoes, herring, eggs, apple and chives in a bowl. Add the drained peas.
  7. Add the mayonnaise, sour cream, pepper and a little salt.
  8. Mix the salad thoroughly. Be careful with the salt, as the herring is already salty.
  9. Before serving, chill the salad in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes.

Serving suggestions

The salad tastes great with cheese toasts prepared in the oven.
