Classic Tuna Pasta Salad

Ingredients

  • mayonnaise 0.75 cups
  • lemon juice 2 tablespoons
  • dried dill 0.25 teaspoons
  • salt 0.75 teaspoons
  • ground black pepper 0.25 teaspoons
  • red onion 0.5 cups
  • frozen peas 1 cup
  • mini shell pasta 12 ounces
  • chunk light tuna 2 cans

Instructions

  1. Combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, dried dill, salt, and black pepper in a bowl and stir until smooth. Set the dressing aside.
  2. Finely dice the red onion and measure the peas.
  3. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until almost tender, then add the peas and continue cooking until the pasta is fully tender and the peas are heated through.
  4. Drain the pasta and peas well, then let them cool until no longer steaming.
  5. Transfer the cooled pasta and peas to a large bowl. Add the red onion and drained tuna.
  6. Add the prepared dressing and gently fold everything together until evenly coated. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to eat.

Serving suggestions

Serve immediately or chilled. It works well as a light meal or side dish with sandwiches, grilled chicken, fresh fruit, or crackers.

Storage suggestions

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Stir before serving and, if needed, refresh with a little mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, or pepper. Do not freeze.
